Cortical auditory evoked potentials using the speech stimulus /ma/

نویسندگان

چکیده

Purpose: to compare cortical auditory evoked responses using two speech stimuli, /ma/ and /da/, in normally hearing young adults. Methods: a cross-sectional, observational analytical study, with sample composed of nineteen adults, recruited by convenience, ages between 18 25 years old, from both genders, participated the study. Cortical potentials (CAEP) were monaurally recorded conditions: 1) pair stimuli /ba/ 2), /ma/. The order experiments was randomized proportion 50% for each totaling 100 experiment. Speech sounds presented at 70 dB SPL. Descriptive statistical tests performed. Results: mean latency values complex P1, N1, P2, N2 P3 lower when compared those /da/ (p <0,05). There no difference amplitude /da/. Conclusion: potentials, elicited stimulus had, on average, peaks P1-N1-P2-N2 P3,

Effects of stimulus level on cortical auditory event-related potentials evoked by speech.

The effect of stimulus level on cortical auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) evoked by consonant-vowel (CV) contrasts, /ta/, /da/, and /sa/, was investigated. The lowest level at which CVs were discriminated with >95% accuracy was determined for 15 normally hearing adults. ERPs were obtained at 0, 20, and 40 dB SL above this level during active listening. ERP latencies decreased as level i...

Speech Specific Auditory Evoked Potentials

ERPs of 27 scalp electrodes were recorded from fourteen volunteers during the presentation of binaurally presented speech and non-speech stimuli. Speech stimuli consisted of nine different consonant-vowel syllables. Non-speech stimuli were generated using special envelope-modulated low pass noise. With this method, kinematic signals are time and amplitude normalized, allowing us to observe the ...

Brainstem evoked auditory potentials with speech stimulus in the auditory processing disorder.

UNLABELLED Although the clinical use of click stimuli to assess auditory function at the brainstem is already established, and numerous research projects use such stimuli to study human hearing, little is known about the auditory processing of a complex stimulus like speech. AIM This study aimed at validating the speech stimulus as an effective method to evaluate speech auditory processing, t...

Deconvolution of overlapping cortical auditory evoked potentials recorded using short stimulus onset-asynchrony ranges.

OBJECTIVE The first aim of this study is to validate the theoretical framework of least-squares (LS) deconvolution on experimental data. The second is to investigate the waveform morphology of the cortical auditory evoked potential (CAEP) for five stimulus onset-asynchronies (SOAs) and effects of alternating stimulus frequency in normally hearing adults. METHODS Eleven adults (19-55 years) wi...

Speech-evoked cortical potentials in children.

Event-related potentials (ERPs) were obtained to synthesized speech stimuli in 16 school-aged children (7-11 years) and compared to responses in 10 adults. P1, N1, and P2 event-related potentials were elicited by the phoneme /ga/. The mismatch negativity (MMN) was elicited by variants of /da/ and /ga/, which differ in the onset frequency of the second and third formant transitions. In general, ...
